lyrics

Charlie was a farming man, in the tulip fields up north.
He worked and he worked everyday, to bring color to the earth.
One day when a storm arose, it had torn through Charlie’s fields.
A tear fell from the eye of a man with a heart made of steel.

And as he stood there crying, from what God had done.
He fell to his knees and saw his youngest son.
He said, “Daddy what is wrong?” as he held out his hand.
“I’m always here if you need a friend”

Charlie was a humble man, never asked for too much.
He would rise at 5am and not sleep til’ work was done.
A wife, a son, a daughter, Charlie loved with all his heart.
He worked and he worked everyday, to give his family a new start.

And as he stood there smiling, he realized his life,
could never be better, even if he tried.
He said, “son don’t you cry” as he held out his hand.
“I’m always here if you need a friend.”

As they stood there smiling, he picked up his son.
Remember that family is always number one.
